Kitchen Lighting Fixtures Should not Turn You Off! Choosing your kitchen lighting fixtures can be as exciting as any other part of remodeling your kitchen; not to mention that it is equally as important to get the lighting right as it is to select the best appliances. If you are doing a full remodel of your kitchen then you can have an electrician strategically put the lighting wherever you want it.
Not so long ago, it was pretty common for the kitchens in small houses and apartments to be fitted with one hanging ceiling fixture to supply all the light in the room. This was often an unpleasant arrangement that caused all sorts of unsightly shadows in the room as sunlight progressed throughout the day. And, unless your stove was right underneath the beam of the kitchen ceiling lighting, cooking dinner at night would always take place in the half dark. These days home designers and renovators have many more options when it comes to type and style of fixtures in the kitchen.
Main Light, for the main light, people tend to have it be the main feature in the room. Some people have chandeliers and others will have pendant lights that hang down from the ceiling. If you opt for a pendant light, then you have to be aware of how low the ceiling is when you are picking the length of the pendant because some people in the home may be taller than others and you do not want them to bang their heads when they walk into the room.
For a family use small bathroom, place a halogen or flood light near the toilet, focused as a good reading light. Install a separate switch. with all of these light fixtures layered in a small bathroom, you will always have exactly the amount of light you need for any given task. Yet you can make it cozy with dimmer switches, safe with night lights. Helpful Tip, small bathroom lighting need not be garish or insufficient. You can have plenty of light or cozy lighting if you layer your light, and control it with separate and/or dimmer switches.
